Frequently Asked Questions
If you know what kind of tree care service you want (i.e., removing the large maple in your backyard, or pruning the cedar hedge, or treating your ash tree for Emerald Ash Borer) then we can visit your property and provide you with a free estimate for the work you wish to be performed. The result of our free estimate is a quote for requested work. If you do not know what kind of tree care service you want, but know it’s time for your trees to be cared for, we will be happy to perform a consultation for you. Our consultations involve a certified arborist visiting your property for at least one hour. During this time, we will make observations and recommendations for tree and property maintenance. The result of our consultations, charged hourly, is a verbal or written report.
Depending on the tree care service we’re providing, you may choose to remove the branches and wood yourself; have us move the wood to a certain spot on your property; or, have us remove the wood from your property altogether. To dispose of branches and wood, we offer a loading and removal service and a chipping service. The resulting wood chips can either be left on your property at a specified location, or removed from the property to be disposed of elsewhere.
Wood is a by-product of our tree care service; removing the cut wood from your property can be achieved by chipping or we can load and remove the wood from your property as part of our cleanup service.
No. We are happy to remove the cut wood from your property as part of the cleanup of the tree care work we perform. Wood removal is a labour intensive process that takes extra time for us to complete. We do not sell wood, and do not buy wood or wood chips from our clients.
We accept all major forms of payment, including credit, debit, cheques, and cash. Please call 613-531-8733 to pay via phone, or send your information to 2375 Highway 15, Kingston, ON, K7L 4V3.
No. We can complete estimates and tree work without you having to be present. The more information and descriptions you provide us, however, the better. Most landowners do choose to be present during the estimate so we can have a face-to-face conversation about the tree or trees in question, and many landowners also choose to be present during the tree work.
Depending on the scope of work, the equipment and tools required, and the time required to complete the job, we may send anywhere from three to six crew members to complete the tree work. Our crew includes a certified arborist, arborist apprentices, and a ground crew to ensure safety.
Each of our crews has at least one certified arborist involved in completing each tree care job. Eco Tree Care is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the Ontario Chapter of the ISA, the Ontario Commercial Arborists Association, and the Kingston Construction Association.

No. Clients can only solicit our services for trees on property they own. If a tree is on the border of two properties, both landowners must indicate approval for tree work. If a tree is near your property, but in fact is on municipally-owned land, appropriate permits may be required.
Yes. We plant deciduous and coniferous trees of all sizes, as well as shrubs. Planting can only take place at two times per year: after the last frost in spring, and after the leaves drop in fall. We can procure plant stock for you, or you can order plants yourself and we will be happy to plant them for you. Ordering trees and shrubs is usually completed a couple seasons before they’re planted to ensure stock availability.
The level and type of tree care required is extremely variable – we will provide a free estimate to address a specific issue. If there is no specific issue identified, we can offer a consultation for an hourly rate.
